Remote IDE (“we”, “us”, “our”) operates the Remote IDE mobile application and the remoteide.app website (the “Service”). This page informs you of our policies regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of personal data when you use our Service.

Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect:

  • Email address (if you sign up with email)
  • Name and profile information from your Google, Apple, or GitHub account (if you use social sign-in)
  • Authentication tokens to keep you signed in securely

Usage Data

We collect information about how you use the Service:

  • Session data: When you create, pause, and resume cloud workspaces
  • Feature usage: Which features you use (builders, AI agents, terminal, Git)
  • Device information: Device type, operating system version, app version

Cloud Workspace Data

  • Code and files you create or upload to your cloud workspace are stored on our cloud infrastructure while your workspace is active
  • Git credentials you configure are stored securely and used only to authenticate with your repositories
  • We do not access, read, or analyze the content of your code or files

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide and maintain the Service
  • Create and manage your account
  • Provision and manage your cloud workspaces
  • Send you important service updates
  • Improve the Service based on usage patterns (aggregated, anonymized)

Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

  • Supabase for authentication and account management
  • Google Cloud Platform / Hetzner for cloud workspace infrastructure
  • GitHub for repository integration (only when you connect your GitHub account)

We do not sell your personal data to third parties.

Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures including:

  • Encrypted data transmission (TLS/HTTPS)
  • Secure token storage on your device
  • Isolated cloud workspaces per user
  • Regular security audits

Data Retention

  • Account data is retained as long as your account is active
  • Workspace data is retained while your workspace exists and is deleted when you delete the workspace
  • Usage logs are retained for up to 90 days

Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access your personal data
  • Correct inaccurate data
  • Delete your account and associated data
  • Export your data
  • Object to data processing

Children’s Privacy

The Service is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

International Data Transfers (GDPR)

Remote IDE processes data in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) for users in the European Economic Area (EEA).

Legal basis for processing:

  • Contract performance: We process your data to provide the Remote IDE service you signed up for, including running cloud workspaces and storing your code.
  • Legitimate interest: We process usage data to improve our service, prevent abuse, and ensure security.
  • Consent: Where required, we obtain your consent before processing (e.g., optional marketing communications).

Data transfers: Your data may be processed in regions outside the EEA, including the United States and Europe (via Google Cloud Platform and Hetzner). We rely on Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) and adequacy decisions where applicable to ensure appropriate safeguards.

Your additional EEA rights:

  • Right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection supervisory authority
  • Right to request restriction of processing
  • Right to data portability in a machine-readable format

California Privacy Rights (CCPA/CPRA)

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA) provide you with additional rights:

  • Right to know: You may request details about the categories and specific pieces of personal information we collect.
  • Right to delete: You may request deletion of your personal information, subject to certain exceptions.
  • Right to opt out of sale: We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
  • Right to non-discrimination: We will not discriminate against you for exercising your privacy rights.

Cookies and Tracking

Remote IDE’s marketing website does not set any cookies. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which is a privacy-first, cookie-free analytics service that does not track individual users across sites.

The Remote IDE mobile application uses local device storage (SecureStore) for authentication tokens. These are stored only on your device and are not cookies.

If we ever introduce cookies in the future, we will update this policy and provide appropriate notice and consent mechanisms.

Data Breach Notification

In the event of a data breach that poses a risk to your rights and freedoms, we will:

  • Notify affected users via email within 72 hours of becoming aware of the breach
  • Notify the relevant supervisory authority as required by applicable law (including GDPR Article 33)
  • Provide details about the nature of the breach, the data affected, and the measures taken to address it

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the “effective date.”
